quick pick me up

DSC00782  For some quick energy as well as a huge boost to your body’s immune system, try juicing carrots, beets, kale, apples and a little fresh ginger.  Make sure you use a juicer with low rpms – you don’t want to oxidize your juice with a fast motor.  Health and wellness to you in this new year!

Free Bird

Dr. Will Tuttle, author of The World Peace Diet and Madeleine Tuttle conducted a prayer vigil on Thanksgiving for the 47 million turkeys killed for this one day in the U.S.

They had the opportunity on Saturday to feed the turkeys at AnimalPlace Sanctuary in Grass Valley, CA, and Will had the opportunity to sit quietly with Jude, a turkey who had suffered terribly at the hands of humans, and had managed to hide on the day all the turkeys were removed from the turkey farm to be trucked to slaughter. A neighbor found him and rescued him. Though his body was mutilated as is routine, his open and loving heart touched Will deeply.

humble vegan ambassador

DSC00477 - Copy.small DSC00481 - Copy.smallIMG_8089.small

Here is the farmer cooking us a delightful vegan meal of tofu, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts, mushrooms, carrots and quinoa in a sesame tamari sauce.  Such a tasty vacation at Netarts Bay, Oregon.  Tomorrow is Thanksgiving.  We are attending a traditional bird-consuming Thanksgiving at a relative’s house and I am preparing myself as a humble vegan ambassador.  I am blessing the turkey silently and asking for forgiveness, not just for a gruesome slaughter, but for forcing her into a concentration camp, a life impossibly suited to healthy turkey family and community.  Then a silent prayer for us human animals, asking that all of our hearts be restored to our natural state of joy, love, compassion and wisdom.  May we open our eyes, open our hearts and re-connect with ALL of life, remembering there is only ONE awareness living in myriad physical forms.

revolution of one

IMG_7809 - Copy.small  IMG_7807 - Copy.small  IMG_7805 - Copy.small

When we cultivate mindful awareness of the consequences of our food choices and conscientiously adopt a plant-based way of eating, refusing to participate in the domination of animals and the dulling of awareness this requires, we make a profound statement that both flows from and reinforces our ability to make connections.  We become a force of sensitivity, healing, and compassion. We become a revolution of one, contributing to the foundation of a new world with every meal we eat. As we share our ideas with others, we promote what may be the most uplifting and healing revolution our culture has ever experienced.”    ~ Dr. Will Tuttle

“I’m not dinner!”

“I’m not dinner!”.  Growing evidence suggests that the caveman was not a predator but rather prey who survived by cooperating with other humans.
